NVIDIA Battery Boost
Wednesday, 12 March 2014
We all know that laptop batteries wouldn’t stand a chance when heavy gaming, as clearly, the processor and graphics card would drain the laptop’s battery extremely fast, due to the energy requirements. Well, NVIDIA is set to change it all with their latest mobile graphics card, in which they claim would double your battery lifespan when gaming on your laptop.

NVIDIA’s new batch of laptop GPUs would consist of the 830M, 840M, 850M and 860M, which would be utilizing the Maxwell architecture. The respective architecture would allow gaming rigs to be thinner and lighter, without sacrificing the quality in the graphics. Generally, the 860M is powerful enough to play BioShock Infinite running at 1080p at max settings with frame rates above 40fps.

BlackBerry Has No Plans For Wearable Device
Tuesday, 25 February 2014
Let’s face it – BlackBerry is on a loosing streak, in which the company made billions in losses on a year-to-year basis, and they are not out of the hot soup yet, as reforms have yet to take into effects for the company. And judging by the fact that BlackBerry also plans to axe many more of their smartphones just to save costs, things are looking pretty gloom for the company.

Recently at the Mobile World Congress, BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen has told the crowd that BlackBerry does not have any plans to build their very own wearable device. Although wearable smart devices are the hot trend these days, it looks like BlackBerry is not interested in tapping into the respective market segment, possibly due to their weakened brand, which led to sluggish sales.

Sprint Still Struggling Despite Growing Subscriber Base And Smartphone Sales
Tuesday, 11 February 2014
Sprint has performed exceptionally well for last year, in which the company recorded favorable growth for their subscriber base and even smartphone sales. And as for Q4 2013 earnings, the company announced that they managed to increase their subscriber base to a record 53.9 million. However, despite their growing subscribers, the company still posted a net loss of $1 billion, which is approximately four times worse that the previous quarter.

Based on Sprint’s record, it looks like the company is in a loosing streak, despite the fact their competitors made gangbuster quarters for the respective holiday period of the year. On a brighter note, the company did hit its LTE coverage goal of 200 million people, however, the figure is still the lowest of all major carriers. And as for their smartphone sales, the company pushed out 5.6 million smartphones as compared to 5 million in the last quarter.

Studio Trends Desk
Tuesday, 11 February 2014
My friend owns a miniature recording studio, in which he uses to record his own tunes whenever he has some free time at hand. However to my dismay, his recording studio is somewhat messy as he did not organize it well. And judging by the fact that he’ll be celebrating his birthday soon, I’m thinking of getting him a recording studio desk, so that he can place his recording equipment neatly on top the desk. After performing some thorough research online, it looks like studio trends desk receives some of the highest recommendations from music enthusiasts. Most importantly, the respective desk isn’t expensive, and I think it would make the perfect birthday present, don’t you think?

Apple Considering 2 iPhones with Larger Screen Sizes and Metal Casings
Saturday, 25 January 2014
If you are an ardent Apple fan, chances are, you’d heard the latest news released by the Wall Street Journal, which reports that Apple is now seriously considering 2 iPhone options, which would come with larger screen sizes, and encased in metal casings. Apparently, Apple is now considering 2 screen size options, namely, the 4.5-inch and 5-inch screens for their upcoming iPhone models.

On the other hand, just as Apple released their latest polycarbonate casing for their iPhone 5c, it looks like the company is set to abandon the idea in favor of the tried-and-true metallic approach of its latest generation. Personally, I think that the screen size increase for the iPhones is long overdue, and that due to Apple’s ignorance in increasing their iPhone’s screen size, their market share has dropped sharply over the past year.

Tiny Power Plant can Charge a Pacemaker Through Heartbeats
Saturday, 25 January 2014
Pacemakers require electricity to operate, and current technology isn’t advanced enough to enable pacemakers to run itself, without needing a battery change. Well, it looks like this is about to change, as a group of American and Chinese researchers are nearing a breakthrough, whereby they have created a piezoelectric power plant that could charge an implant all by itself.

The respective prototype machine generates electricity through the movement of nanoribbons that are tiny enough to be sewn into an organ's surface. And most astonishingly, the electricity generated through the respective mean is enough to power the pacemaker solely though heartbeats. And if they succeed in getting this technology out, I’m guessing there will be no more battery changes for the pacemaker in the future.
