The Brazilian government has just proposed that the country develop a South American broadband network. Specifically, Brazil's Paulo Bernardo has lobbied for the creation of a ring of South American fiber optic networks. Paulo further disclosed that the current connection costs for South American users are at least three times higher than the connection in the United States.
And with the South American broadband network in place, South American users would definitely benefit from the initiative. Basically, the fiber optic network would lower internet and mobile access in the region, and the network would most definitely benefit ISPs as well. Paulo also presented the cost to implement the initiative, in which the entire network can be developed for $60 million, and the project could be completed within 2 years.
