Top Senate Democrats have voiced their intention to strip the insurance industry from being exempted from the US antitrust laws. At the present moment, insurance companies are not bound by the federal antitrust laws, whereby this gives the insurance organizations the flexibility of acquiring their competitors without discreet.
Of course, the move by the democrats to limit the insurance industry can be seen as a pivotal role in helping the Obama administration to get their healthcare overhaul in place. If the law is enacted on the insurance industry, this will mean that companies have to follow more rules and regulations to follow, in which would help better govern the overall insurance industry. I also believe that the antitrust law can help smaller insurance companies to thrive in the industry, rather than being gobbled up by their larger counterpart.
Do you think that it is a wise move for the Democrats to let the insurance industry to be governed under antitrust laws?
