Democratic Party is one of the oldest Political party’s of the US along with the Republicans. The history shows that the Democratic Party supported the labors and the minorities in the old times. The existence of the Democratic Party dates back to the 1792 to represent the anti monarchial views. The victory of the Democratic Party was seen from the 1826 to 1856. The Democratic Party also won two presidential elections in the year 1840 and 1848. But in the later years, Democratic Party faced many problems and failures due to the extension of slavery in the western territories. As a result, Republican Party got the power and the Democratic Party lost the elections.
The election of the 1860 is regarded as one of the most critical elections. The country followed the two party systems with the Democratic Party on the one hand and the Republican Party on the other. From 1870s-1890s the democrats dominated and enjoyed the political party as the whites regarded the Republicans responsible for the civil war. Another, very critical elections happened to be at the time economic depression in the year 1929. The Democratic Party enjoyed the majority in both southern America and northern America and replaced the republicans.
