It seems that a Japanese team from Tokai University has won the World Solar Challenge which was recently held in Australia. In fact, the team was good enough to beat a top contestant which won the title 4 times in a row for the previous years.
Of course, the World Solar Challenge requires the challengers to build an effective solar vehicle that can travel the fastest over Australia’s blazing desert. The solar vehicle has to travel over 3,000 km or about 1,864 miles over the boiling desert.
The Tokai team took 30 hours to complete the leg, while averaging out with 62 miles per hour, which I think is very efficient for a solar car, don’t you think so?
